Carlos Castaneda studied anthropology at UCLA. I’ve always been influenced by his work and I’ve read all his books. His third book, Journey to Ixtlan, served him as his doctoral thesis.

The protagonist in his prolific volume of work is an old Indian Shaman named Don Juan Matus. Mr. Castaneda claimed that this Shaman, a Yaqui Indian, is a non-fictional character and that he studied as his apprentice for many years. The teachings of his knowledge are eccentric and deeply intriguing. This print "A Shamans’ Muse" is a tribute to what I learned from this extraordinary teacher.
