Carlos Castaneda studied anthropology at UCLA. I’ve always been influenced by his work and I’ve read all his books. His third book, Journey to Ixtlan , served him as his doctoral thesis.
The protagonist in his prolific volume of work is an old Indian Shaman named Don Juan Matus. Mr. Castaneda claimed that this Shaman, a Yaqui Indian, is a non-fictional character and that he studied as his apprentice for many years. The teachings of his knowledge are eccentric and deeply intriguing. This print "A Shamans’ Muse" is a tribute to what I learned from this extraordinary teacher.
