My first artwork, entitled between shadow and gold the echo of imperialism, shows both sides involved during European imperialism. On one side you see the exploited and terribly mistreated rightful owners of the land and resources, while on the other side you see the exploiters helping themselves to the continent's wealth. I dedicate this picture to all the victims and all the slaves who were exploited and mistreated as a result of imperialism. These terrible deeds must never be forgotten and that is why I have created this picture. I want to draw attention to why the continent of Africa is still struggling to become self-sufficient today. European Christians legitimized these atrocities with the spread of Christianity, but the real motive behind it was to prey on the weak and maximize their own wealth at the expense of others
